PitchPal is designed with family safety as our top priority.
Safety & Trust
PitchPal connects young athletes with older peer mentors. We take safety seriously — and we want parents to understand exactly how this works before signing up.
How Mentor Verification Currently Works
Mentors self-report their program affiliation (MLS NEXT and ECNL, etc.) when creating their profile. PitchPal does not currently conduct independent background checks or contact programs directly to verify enrollment.
This means a mentor's claimed program status has not been independently confirmed. Parents should treat mentor profiles as self-reported information and conduct their own due diligence before and during all sessions.
We are actively working on a verification process that will involve program confirmation. Until then, please apply appropriate caution.
What PitchPal Does
All users must create an account with a valid email address.
Mentors under 18 require a parent/guardian email on file.
Sessions are scheduled in advance with date, time, and location visible to both parties.
All in-app messaging and session activity is logged.
Any user can be reported and reviewed for removal from the platform.
Adult Presence Required
A responsible adult (parent or guardian) must be present for all training sessions involving a mentee. Sessions may not take place without an adult on-site. This is a platform requirement, not just a recommendation.
Guidelines for Parents
We require and recommend the following for all sessions:
- A responsible adult must be present and on-site for the entire duration of every session.
- Review the mentor's full profile, bio, and listed skills before connecting.
- Contact the mentor's parent/guardian email if the mentor is also a minor.
- Meet the mentor in a public location (like a school field) for the first session.
- Ask the mentor to confirm his or her program membership with documentation if you would like additional assurance.
- Report any concerns immediately using the in-app report feature or by contacting us directly.
PitchPal's Limitations
PitchPal is a peer-to-peer platform. We are not a supervised training program, a licensed coaching service, or a childcare provider. We do not:
- ×Conduct background checks on mentors
- ×Guarantee the accuracy of self-reported program affiliations
- ×Supervise or attend sessions
- ×Assume liability for sessions that occur off-platform
By using PitchPal, users and parents acknowledge these limitations. See our Terms of Service for full details.
Report a Concern
If you have an urgent safety concern, contact us immediately. We review all reports within 24 hours and can remove users from the platform.
